As if the Martha Stewart Collection weren’t already reason enough to shop at Macy’s, here’s something that should clinch the store’s place in the hearts of gays and lesbians:
In the Wednesday, May 28 issue of the L.A. Times, Macy’s ran a full-page ad featuring a pencil sketch of two wedding bands, followed by the words: “First comes love. Then comes marriage.”
The ad goes on to say: “And now it’s a milestone every couple in California can celebrate. Let Macy’s Wedding Gift and Registry help you start your new life together.”
There’s more, including the the store’s wedding registry Web site (www.macysweddingchannel.com). But the important part is the chain’s obvious support for marriage equality. And I say when somebody supports us, they deserve our support in return.
