| BLOCK’S BOOK PARTY Jenny Block signs copies of Open at Buli Café, 3908 Cedar Springs Rd. May 29 at 7 p.m. 214-528-5410. For more information about Block and her book, visit Jenny |
Jenny Block’s new memoir is so hot off the press that a copy arrived at the Dallas Voice offices only a few minutes before her scheduled photo shoot. (Which means we haven’t read it yet.)
Block is a regular Voice contributor, and her book, "Open: Love, Sex and Life in an Open Marriage" (Seal Press, $24.95) details how this seemingly average North Dallas wife-mom expanded her definition of a happy, working marriage to include partners — without lying or cheating.
"Open" doesn’t officially hit bookshelves until June 1. And with California’s ruling on same-sex marriage, Block couldn’t have picked a better release date to dissect marriage, polyamory, bisexuality and monogamy.
Not only is she freaking out blog-commenting housewives who disapprove, Block is also kicking up national interest: Glamour magazine and Marie Claire have given "Open" some ink. And Block just started blogging about open relationships for Huffington Post.
On Thursday, Block has a book release party at Buli Café — her first publicity gig. Y’all can pick up a copy a few days before its official release.
