The outlook for gay marriage in California is perhaps the tiniest bit less bleak, according to the latest vote count update.
An hour or so earlier, with 9 percent of the precincts reporting, the constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage was passing by a 10-point margin: 55 percent to 45 percent.
But now, as of 12:05 a.m. CST, the margin has tightened to only 6 points, 53 percent to 47 percent, with 25 percent of the precincts reporting.
Maybe when we wake up in the morning, that will have flipped completely and Prop 8 will have gone down to defeat.
