Erotic stud Tony DaVinci lands two September magazine covers. Local hardbody expert offers advice for a mouthwatering midsection

| THE DAVINCI LOAD: Tony’s featured on the covers of Torso and Men’s Workout. |
He's showing them off on two magazine covers: the September editions of Men's Workout and Torso. Well, Torso readers also get the full-frontal version. But if you want more, DaVinci's the cover stud for Raging Stallion's "Apex" video, a compilation of erotic hunks performing as solo artists. And as far as single-handed porn goes, "Apex" is excellent.
So how do you achieve such an incredible tummy? Apparently, it's all about diet and exercise. Genetics also factor in DaVinci says Danny DeVito will never have a great stomach.
A 32-year-old hunk of manflesh, DaVinci started sculpting his physique when he was a 17-year-old living in Buffalo, N.Y.
"I always knew abs were my forte," he remembers. "My abs are what landed me on the cover of Men's Workout."
In the past five years, the longest he's gone without hitting the gym was five days when he took a vacation to New York in 2005.
DaVinci moved to Big D in 1990. He's a certified personal trainer who works at the new Pulse Fitness gym, which is housed in the Mosaic Lofts in downtown. In the October edition of Men's Workout, DaVinci says he'll be featured in a four-page layout for achieving the perfect gut. This week, he stopped at the Dallas Voice offices to offer suggestions for getting a slab of abs.
1. Diet:
High protein and low carbs. Get used to a menu of oatmeal with blueberries and strawberries, 10 scrambled egg whites, baked chicken, baked sweet potatoes and baked salmon. Say goodbye to pastas and bread. And drink post-workout protein shakes: Isopure powder with scoops of weigh protein, Creatine and Glutamine.
One day a week, allow one "cheat meal." On Sundays, DaVinci chows on pasta. He also has a sweet tooth and craves Recees, Dryers Dibs and Twinkies. But he never drinks alcohol.
2. Consistency:
One hour of weight training and one hour of cardio five days a week. Three days on, one day off. Followed by two days on and one day off.
When it comes to exercising abs, use a combination of lower and upper crunches. The key is squeezing on the contraction and keeping your core tight. And breathe every time you contract, exhale.
Abdominals respond to high-repetitions. Do four to six sets: a minimum of 20 reps; maximum of 50. Abs should be performed three to four times a week. Sets shouldn't last longer than 10 minutes.
3. Cardio: Unless your body fat is 10 percent or below, you won't have defined abs.
You can work your abs to death, and they still might not show. A shredded stomach is all about cardiovascular exercise. DaVinci's does 45 minutes on StairMaster at an intense, mid-range setting that's followed by 15-minute treadmill "cool down" on a low setting, almost walking.
4: Good sex:
Ripped abs are great for bait. But DaVinci says his secret is satisfied fornication: "At least 30 minutes, four or five times a week."
