2nd Boots and Briefs charity auction set at Round-Up Saloon
The Red River Rodeo Association will present its second Boots and Briefs Auction, benefiting AIDS Services of North Texas and the charities of TGRA-Dallas, at 8:30 p.m. on Friday July 4 at the Round-Up Saloon.
State Rep. Burnam to be guest speaker at COH Peace Sunday service
State Rep. Lon Burnam of Fort Worth will be the guest speaker at the Cathedral of Hope’s Peace Sunday services at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. services on Sunday, July 6.
Burnam has represented Fort Worth’s inner city District 90 since January 1997, serving on a number of different committees, most focusing on consumer issues involving insurance, housing, transportation and the environment.
He is also director of the Dallas Peace Center, and prior to his election to the Texas House, he was a city planner working to coordinate different organizations to revitalize city neighborhoods.
Burnam and his wife Carol Roark have lived in the South Central Fort Worth neighborhood of Fairmount since 1978.
Cathedral of Hope has for the past several years designated the Sunday closest to July 4 as a day to call the LGBT community to be “patriots of peace,” and this Sunday’s services will focus on that theme.
The church is located at 5910 Cedar Springs, and services are free and open to all.
Sunday dance party set to benefit Boys4Toys organization
Excusses Extreme Café, formerly Club One, will hold a tea dance on Sunday, July 6 to benefit Boys4Toys.
The dance will feature DJ Paul Kraft and will be held from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. There is a $10 cover.
Excusses Extreme Café is located at 3025 Main St., in Deep Ellum.
Master gardener to present program at Rainbow Garden Club’s July meeting
Texas Master Gardener Ron Blancq will present the program on “Practical Perennials” at the Sunday, July 13 meeting of the Rainbow Garden Club.
The program will include a “show and tell” exhibit with plants for Blancq’s own garden followed by a question-and-answer session. Cuttings and potted specimens will be given to all who attend.

HRC’s Fruit Bowl deadline July 11
July 11 is the last day to register a team for the HRC sponsored July 27 event Project Fruit Bowl without paying a penalty. Individual players can register now for $25 per person versus $30 after the deadline. The cost for a team of four people is $100 now compared to $125 later.
