Bishop Arts District celebrates Bastille Day with food, more

Francophiles rejoice — any everyone else too

Bastille on Bishop won’t look quite like this.

Considering Dallas doesn’t have a French Quarter or a distinct French heritage (sorry, La Madeline), it might be a bit strange to celebrate the French national holiday Bastille Day. But who cares? The Bishop Arts District is doing it anyway and that means more than any storming of Bastille fortress, it means good food. Go Oak Cliff and the Alliance Francaise of Dallas team up and not only celebrate the holiday, but host a Mussels Competition with chefs from Park, Bolsa, Zen Sushi, Smoke and more. Crepe stands, live music, wine walks and a French maid relay should round out the celebration.

DEETS: Bishop Arts District, Bishop and Davis Streets. 6 p.m. GoOakCliff.org.
