It is unconscionable that in our budget, we require our mhmr centers to use the newest, most expensive psychiatric drugs first, before trying older, less expensive drugs that have been found no less safe and no less effective than the newer drugs. We are wasting tens of millions. Diverting $19 million from this fund that only benefits drug companies would make sense.
