This morning on the Daily Crime Report I noticed a robbery in the Oak Lawn area in which the victim was bitten. As a one-time cops reporter, I couldn’t help but wonder whether this incident was related to another alleged biting that occurred recently. I began to imagine there was some sort of gay serial biter on the loose near Cedar Springs, and that I was going to break the story.Turns out, that’s probably not the case, as the two incidents appear to be unrelated, according to Cpl. Kevin Janse of the Dallas Police Department. But since they were both so bizarre, and since I sometimes miss writing about crime, I’ll provide details anyway. They’re after the jump.
In the first incident, the 23-year-old male victim was walking in the 4000 block of Cedar Springs Road at 2:30 a.m. on April 19. Apparently, the victim had met the suspect at one of the bars, although he told police he was too drunk to remember which one. Anyhow, the suspect followed the victim to his car and attacked him, punching him repeatedly and biting him on the left shoulder, left ear and right cheek. The victim, who didn’t report the incident until several hours later, sustained a cut on his cheek. According to Janse, the victim described the suspect as a 6-foot-tall, bald, 30-year-old white male.In the second incident, shortly after midnight on April 24, the suspect followed the 22-year-old male victim in a vehicle from a restaurant to the area of 2820 Reagan St. When the two got out of their cars, the suspect began punching the victim, knocking him to the ground. The suspect then got on top of the victim and bit him in the back of the head. When some other people arrived, the suspect fled, but not before taking the victim’s keys. The suspect returned later and made off with the victim’s car. Janse said in this incident, the victim knew the suspect. Police have identified the suspect but have not yet made an arrest. The victim sustained minor cuts and bruises but refused medical attention.
