Ash Christian has done a lot of (smart) living in a very short period of time. Only 23, he was barely of drinking age when he wrote, directed and starred in “Fat Girls,” shot on a shoestring in North Texas and which became a festival hit and won Christian some serious Hollywood cred. And he did it facing homophobic opposition in his home state (chronicled in part here).
Christian is back in town this week, trying to raise money for his next film project, the comedy “Mangus!” about a small-town texas boy who dreams of playing Jesus in the local production of “Jesus Christ Superstar.” Shooting is set to begin mid-next year. If you see Ash around, say hi … and ask how much you’d have to pay to secure a cameo in his film.
