Once again the Fort Worth Police department is simply playing games and not serious about the Rainbow Lounge Raid.

They are just trying to run out the clock hoping that the LGBT community will give up and go away like they have in the past.

If Fort Worth is truly inclusive and non-discriminatory, then why all the uproar about the Kiss-In this Saturday? It should be a non-issue. It being an issue shows that Fort Worth is not inclusive and discriminates.

If FWPD had taken 1/100 of the time they are taking reviewing this report, they wouldn’t be spending anytime on reveiwing this report, there would be no need! A pound of prevention is worth a pound of cure! I don’t hold out much hope for a reasonable investigation of this matter. I don’t see a report before the end of the year as they’ve alluded to.

Actually, the Fort Worth Mayor, the Fort Worth Police Chief, and our own LGBT Councilmember Joel Burns all seem to be in hiding from the public these days.

They also seem to prefer to decline interviews and issue a written response to avoid questions.

Sadly, it’s all part of “THE Fort Worth Way.”

I haven’t heard any “uproar” about the Kiss-In. Once again QLiberaction is creating a tempest in a teapot to justify it’s existence. A kissing booth IS a “non-issue” in terms of any meaningful efforts on an actionable agenda for our community.

to BRETT and MARK-
The statements about Halstead, et al, not talking to the press are refuted by he and his wife’s presence at the GPW Picnic last Saturday, and Joel Burns also spoke there. Hundreds of LGBT citizens, their friends and families were there. Were either of you?!

Steve,

You seem to have confused attending an event as making spoken comments to the public. My remark was in reference that Halstead has not spoken out to the public in quite a long while – his chief of staff, Lt. Paul Henderson, seems to be taking the brunt of interviews. I’ve seen his name littered over a few different articles covering the “going-ons” of Ft. Worth issues – which he seems to be a lot better on his feet with his words than Halstead – so its understandably apt.

And my whereabouts for last weekend are of non of your concern :: wink wink :: haha – I kid!

Dear Brett,

I still have to point out that your inference that Chief Halstead is hiding from the public because he wishes to avoid questions about The Rainbow Lounge is contradicted by his attending an event putting him square in the middle of hundreds of gay people. He spoke to LOTS of people without any kind of shield, or cone of silence over him. Anyone could have asked him anything.
Chiefs of Staff, Public Information Officers, etc… are de rigueur for Administrators of large organizations and shouldn’t be a surprise.
I’m not happy that the report will take several weeks longer to be released than we thought but we need to keep our eye on the prize and see what’s in it before we make any public accusations that are unfounded.

If that is the case, can you please setup a Q&A meeting between Mayor Moncrief, Chief Halstead, and Joel Burns where the media is present and they are required to take and answer all questions from any members of the LGBT community, including QL?

Let us know the time and place, and I’ll be there, and I’m sure QL would also be there.

Thoroughly read the above article and you’ll discover that tentatively, “…Halstead will hold a press conference on Nov. 4 to release the report to the public.”
Now, were QL to be there would they be interrupting and insisting only they speak again? Or, will they be outside mugging for cameras when they are called upon to speak- as they did at the City Council Meeting in FW?
If you kids could intelligently verbalize a rational political agenda or a strategic plan in an adult and civil fashion you might have been invited to meet with responsible officials as Fairness Fort Worth and other community representatives were.
And, AGAIN any large organization like a Police Department, a City Administration, the TABC… has lots of ongoing activities besides this incident. They wouldn’t be able to respond to every single request for the time of officials with myriad other responsibilities. You guys have to get that through your heads to be able to deal with government bodies in an effective manner.
All this pissiness from you kids proves my point that you’re continuing to milk this incident for all it’s worth so you can justify your existence. Shouldn’t you be working on a Ring-Toss to go with the Kissing Booth?

Steve, are you now admitting that the Fort Worth authorities didn’t invite QL to meet with them?

This seems to contradict your earlier claims that these city officials were willing to meet with QL.
