1950’s pop star and movie idol Eddie Fisher died from a fall in his California home yesterday at the age of 82.
Although Fisher sold millions of records and had his own television show, his biggest claim to fame may be his high-profile marriages to Hollywood starlets Debbie Reynolds, Elizabeth Taylor and Connie Stevens — all of which ended in divorce. He had two more marriages after that. Fisher also co-starred in the films “Bundle of Joy” and “Butterfield 8”. Among his four children were actresses Carrie Fisher and Joely Fisher. Fisher has two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, one for recording and the other for TV.
Fisher notched over twenty Top 10 hits, included the below, which hit #1 in 1954. It’s the song I’ll always most associate with him, even though it’s from before my time.
