Robert’s Lafitte, a gay bar in Galveston, has reopened after Hurricane Ike and is serving as a refuge for gays, straights and “anyone who needs a place to drink and find comfort,” according to this article from Reuters. The bar, owned by a former female impersonator named Big Mouth Robert, planned a pre-curfew drag show Monday night along with a Tina Turner sing-along. Tina Turner is the bar’s artist of choice, according to the story, since she survived another Ike — her abusive husband Ike Turner.
