OK, we’re the first to acknowledge that the state of Utah does not have an exactly progressive reputation when it comes to sexual liberation. (Unless, of course, you are a religion 74-year-old man with ten teenaged wives.) But actually, Salt Lake City reportedly has a somewhat thriving gay community. (When I interviewed porn star Matthew Rush a few years ago, he said the largest, most enthusiastic personal appearance he ever made was in SLC; go figure.) The city has half a dozen gay and lesbian bars and clubs, a gay-friendly Kimpton Hotel and it near Park City where the annual Sundance Film Festival takes place.
And this weekend, you can get there cheap. American Airlines is offering airfare for as little as $94 each way, with an evening Friday, April 16 departure, returning as early as the early afternoon Monday. Visit AA.com/netsaver to book now.
