Grammys shmammys — check tonight's OutMusic Awards…if you can

The OutMusic Award
The OutMusic Award

Tonight, the tops in LGBT music will be awarded in New York by OutMusic, the alliance of LGBT recording artists and performers. These aren’t your mainstream awards by any means, but check out the nominees here. These are all out LGBT artists making music across the spectrum. We’ve even covered one of them before. Unfortunately, there aren’t many obvious Texas connections to this year’s nominees.

OutMusic doesn’t try to wiggle in gay faves, like Lady Gaga or Britney Spears, just because. They save that for the online popularity awards. Here, you can count Houston’s Beyonce and Kelly Rowland as the Lone Star State’s rep for the awards. It’s a stretch, I know.

Logo sponsors the popularity awards but no official word if they will broadcast tonight’s event. There is rumor they will stream it on their site but all I’ve found so far is this listing. I’ll muddle through their site at awards time tonight and hope for the best.
