The Houston Chronicle has endorsed out lesbian Annise Parker in the city’s mayoral runoff Dec. 12. In the general election, the Chronicle co-endorsed Parker and Gene Locke. Locke and Parker received the most votes, but neither received 50 percent, forcing the runoff.
In their endorsement, the Chronicle said, “After scrutinizing the two excellent candidates vying in the mayoral runoff December 12, the Chronicle believes one is clearly better equipped by experience for the job. She is three-term Houston Controller Annise Parker.”
