Big Tex goes Brokeback. Y’all come out on Sunday to Gay Day at State Fair
More Texan than a “King of the Hill” episode, and more twangy than an Ann Richards quip.
In honor of National Coming Out Day, Sunday is the unofficial Gay Day at the State Fair of Texas, when our colorful GLBT community expresses its Lone Star Pride. The event is sponsored by the Coming Out Project, Dallas-Fort Worth. Attendees are encouraged to don their finest Pride apparel, Human Rights Campaign accessories and rainbow wear. And in an HRC press release, the color red is also recommended, probably because it’s so easy to spot. This year’s big attraction are the new Texas Skyway gondolas.
Oct. 14. Exhibits open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. General admission, $13. Children 2 and under are free.
