The Houston transgender community reportedly plans to protest the Human Rights Campaign dinner tomorrow night, according to H-Town native and trans activist Monica Roberts. And legendary Houston transgender attorney Phyllis Frye (pictured above), who’s organizing the event, is accusing HRC of contacting the Houston Police Department in an attempt to shut the protest down.
UPDATE: In response to posts on some blogs (not Instant Tea!) that may have stretched the truth, Frye is reporting that the Houston Police Department DID NOT try to shut down the trans protest. However, Frye does claim HRC was trying to intimidate protesters and reduce the size of the event by calling the cops.
