Heinz update
June 24th, 2008Okay. So Heinz has apparently already caved in to right wing pressure in Great Britain and pulled the “mum” ad that showed two partners saying goodbye with a kiss.

That’s too bad, too. It was a cute ad. So instead of complimenting them on a good ad, perhaps we should all be complaining to them for being such wusses.

Um. I don’t think those were supposed to be two “Partners”. The ad appears to me to be saying that if UK moms purchased this product, it would be LIKE having a New York Deli chef in your own home. The kids called the chef “Mum” not “Dad”, he clearly had a New York accent in a commercial aimed only in the UK, and the kiss was supposed to be so shocking as to make you remember the product and talk about it to friends and co-workers.
I don’t think they were trying to say that the two men were partners in any way.
