  2. Bob McCranie Says:

I like the idea of using GM’s logo for gay marriage. Great idea.

However, I am unswayed by General Motor’s current PR push to try to convince us they care about green cars. GM and Ford intentionally do not produce hybrids in large enough numbers to have an impact the market place. Go to any Ford or GM lot and ask to drive three or four hybrids so you can pick the one you like. All the commercials for the Cadillac Escalade Hybrid has fine print that says “Limited Number Produced”. GM has a long history of killing mass transit programs (Los Angelis), stopping innovation (Who Killed the Electric Car …EV-1), and hiding behind their large SUV-based product line. In the mean time Honda, Toyota, and others have sped past them.

And Flex Fuel is only as good as the distribution system. In Dallas there are very few places to buy E-85 fuel so the fact that GM has several flex fuel models is defeated by the lack to availability of the product.

This isn’t a problem with the American worker…it’s a problem with management that continues to look at near-term profits and oil-based world principles. So if GM wants my dollars some day in the future, they need to make more than just a TOKEN EFFORT to appear green and actually flood the market with hybrid cars.
