Trust me. We say the TABC come into the old with the paperwork and signage around the first of the year. Those documents were closely looked over by JD, after all the trouble that they have gone through to get this bar opened. Why did they wait until Friday night, the bar actually opened on Wednesday? This show that they (TABC) are doing everything they can to close down the gay bars and establishments. Waiting until Friday night will make the bar close for a heavy weekend of making profits. This was a setup!!

Rainbow Lounge Raid Rally
Tarrant County Courthouse
100 E Weatherford
Sunday, July 12
7:00 PM

Almost two weeks after the raid on the Rainbow Lounge we are still left with lots of questions and very little action by city, police and TABC officials. We are pleased that that TABC officers involved have been placed on desk duty and that calls for independent investigations have been made, but this is not nearly enough. On Sunday, July 12 the LGBT community of N Texas will stand together to call for answers from the Fort Worth Police Department, the TABC and an independent third party. We demand swift action condemning homophobia and violence against LGBT people!

Dr Stephen V Sprinkle associate professor of practical theology at Brite Divinity School at Texas Christian University, Chuck Potter witness to the raid at the Rainbow Lounge raid and Rick Vanderslice local radio and television personality are some who are set to speak. This powerful event will recount the raid at the Rainbow Lounge, illustrate the injustices behind this incident and call out for action.

Ok.. what kind of person runs a bar and doesn't check that. THAT SAID, this "raiding new gay bars on their first night" business between the Eagle and Cherries is a little troubling. Are they doing this to straight bars too?

Can't we just start contacting our legislators to either eliminate or reform the TABC? Does Texas think prohibition is still going on?

For some reason, I sincerely doubt there was any type of problem with the license. JD, Lou, and team have been fighting for months to make sure everything was lined up. They have pushed the opening date back several times for different "issues" with licenses. This is just one more incident and excuses in a long line of them from the city and state. I stand behind my family at the Eagle and trust them. They would not have done anything that was not above board.

Cliff and I were at The Eagle at the time of the so-called raid. We heard that the bar had stopped selling alcohol. We didn't see any police officers or TABC agents. The bar was packed, so that's understandable. About 30 minutes later, an announcement was made that alcohol sales had resumed. The we heard that there was some glitch with the bar's liquor license. We left around 11:30, so if the bar was shut down by midnight it must have occurred after we left.

What a way to usher in a grand opening for the Dallas Eagle, a North Texas gay bar! Are we living in 2009 OR 1969 in Dallas and Fort Worth? Does the TABC only work at night? A phone call to the club owner or visit to the club in the daytime would have been more appropriate instead of a night time "raid" to verify the new address and alcohol permit status. News of this happening again in North Texas will re-iterate to the rest of the country of the Redneck / backwards mentality of the region. I'm very upset to wake up to this news! My first reaction was to consider leaving a bigoted region of this country. But alas, there are many around here that have an open mind and accept the GLBT community unconditionally.

Maybe the TABC went to the Eagle to enforce the law? Don't laugh - that could happen.

Make some posters at 2pm or wait for more information?
