If the votes are not there for transgendered protections like there weren't last time, are we going to throw the bulk of the community under the bus so that we can wait another 30 years?

In other words, is there a plan for that unpleasant eventuality which would be healthier than what we saw last time, or are the activist elites going to decide for the grassroots that job protections for the many can wait until the few can build the level of political support that LGB have fought for?

My guess is that we'll see more and more liberal guilt thrown around about throwing people under the bus, namby pamby claims that fly in the face of the reality that any kind of incremental change, by definition, implies partial but progressive consolidation of gains.

We need for LGBT to all be made a suspect class at the federal level, and absent that, someone is going to be left behind somewhere as that bar is lowered. Complaining arbitrarily that one group is "thrown under the bus" when others are still left behind on a variety of other issues--housing protection, anyone--twists the notion of solidarity from one of joining to win to one of joining to lose.

That is not how the history of civil rights has played out.

YAHOO. Of course we can pretty much be assured that our Texas State Senators, Kay Bailey Hutchinson, and John Cornyn will vote against it. They didn't didn't for the Hate Crimes Bill.
