I was at a religious service today that referred to homosexuality as a "family tragedy" equivalent to domestic violence, rape, murder or suicide. They also lumped being Buddhist or Muslim into the same "family tragedy" category. Just FYI. She gets hired as an ambiance girl for - bar mitzvahs! When I went to my cousin's bar mitzvah in Woodstock, NY, and at the door you had a choice of maracas or tambourines rather than a prayer book, I knew that finally, I had encountered a synagogue more liberal and out there than Beth El Binah. But now, my new goal is to go to a bar mitzvah featuring drag queens as ambiance girls. Does she lip-sync the Hebrew and have backup dancers for the Torah readings? Thanks for the idea, Rich.
