Tori, I understand that many of them have very "Mayberry" beliefs about the GLBT community and what it means. Isn't that where our movement needs to be? Why give up and move on when we can make a difference. There are many, many people living in Fort Worth who are afraid--afraid that they are ignored--afraid to hold hand with their partener in their back yards. We need to act on this. There are many demonstrations and other direct action events planned for Ft. Worth. We will get there, but don't give up just because it is difficult.

I am a Chicago native. I have lived here for 1 1/2 years and my closest friends live there. All of them knoew about the raid before I even told them. My suspision is that you friend is simply not aware (or enlightened) about GLBT events in other states.

I was really just messing with TJ about visiting FW. I used to spend all my time in Dallas until I found that I had places to go over there. As far as the raid goes, my nephew from Chicago called me a couple days after the raid and asked what was going on with it. He is "straight" but had heard it and knew that I would know something about it. I think we all want it to be over and done and things get better. However, after reading the comments on the Star Telegram's website regarding the Diversity Task Force's recommendations...I agree with you, TJ and you, John. Even if we start getting better treatment from the authorities, the residents are barbaric in their thinking. They will never understand that equal should include everyone...even the religiously immoral.

Sorry, but I agree with TJ. There's been press conference after press conference and investigation after investigation all saying the same thing. I'm interested in what happens in the community but I have to admit, I've grown disinterested in the whole thing. I hope the guy that got hurt is compensated, but I don 't believe Fort Worth will become progressive anytime soon. That city feels like it's in a time warp. I asked my friend in Chicago about this and he didn't know anything about it. He didn't even know where Fort Worth was. Maybe it's just the local media beating this story to death, but I've lost interest too, and am ready to move on.

How could you guys say that? What a way to galvanize the community. This is so disrespectful and wrong. It is just wrong.

Nobody gave a rat's ass about this crappy town until some gays got roughed up and then to everyone's surprise, this white trash mecca is kinda anti-gay. Fort Worth is a boring town, full of boring rednecks. Even thier gay-bashing is boring. Please move on so we can forget Fort Worthless they way we used to .
