Adam Lambert responds to critics on CBS’ ‘Early Show’ today

November 25th, 2009

Without ever watching an American Idol episode or having heard Adam Lambert sing, I think I may be a fan after this week alone. His bold and brash performance on the American Music Awards this past Sunday is already legendary. For a new artist with no substantial cred behind him, to shake things up like that is pretty amazing. The new kid on the block is already getting canceled because of that one gig.

This morning on the Early Show, he’s gives this well-spoken response to being criticized for his performance that night. He handled it like a seasoned pro without ever apologizing.

You go, boy!

His voice sounded like shit but I must say that Adam Lambert IS DA SHIT!!! WTG! Don’t apologize for that performance and why are young children still up after 9 pm?

  2. Jack E. Jett Says:

I was not a fan until this performance and I saw glimpses of Freddie Mercury that night.

I agree with Tish….he is da shit fo surez.

  3. DFWMediaWatcher Says:

Uh, young children stay up to watch their favorite celebs win awards.

I think Mr. Lambert was highly inappropriate during his performance. Sure, it would have worked on MTV, but NOT on ABC.

I think it’s sad that he felt he had to go there during what could have been a moment that would have been remembered for his singing and not for his controversial actions.

This could kill his career if he’s not careful.

  4. James Simmons Says:

The only apologies needed are from the parents who think they can forever shelter their kids from whatever. They need to apologize for their never-ending self-deceptive trips through la-la land.

  5. AA Says:

OMG! A same sex kiss! What about the children?

I get tired of tv being dumbed down to the level of a 6 year old. It is no wonder that Europeans laugh at Americans for dumb crap like this.

  6. Deb Says:

What about them blurring Adam’s kiss but not Britney/Madonna’s on CBS newscast? GLAAD is all over it too.

  7. Charlie Says:

Noone would be saying anything if it were a herterosexual kiss. Admittedly the part that was censored was a bit much, but remember the roar over Michael Jackson grabbing his crotch during performances, in the begining? I don’t think this is any worse.
His voice was fine! I think Adams bravery to be out and open is great. I wish there were more as brave and willing to risk their career to be out as Adam.

  8. Steve W Says:

Let’s slow down: the Adam performance happened AT THE END [9:55 Dallas local time] of a Dick Clark-produced TV SHOW on ABC! [It was over the top .... at best; pretty much was not his best work ... at worst.] Smooth move for ABC to cancel him from GMA then CBS swooped in and took him to their AM show … then both of them “press-release-ing” about it all over the internet! PR …. PR …. PR.

  9. Tim Says:

You said you had never seen Adam before. If more gay people had watched the show and voted, the most talented performer ever on the show would have WON. He lost the show because he is gay. Adam is in a league of his own and will be around for a long time. Kissing boys on TV! It’s about time!

  10. GAYBORHOOD Says:

OH Puhlease “never seen Adam before…” and golly gee, they had Lady GaGa playing at the Dallas Eagle dance floor but after asking, it seems they didn’t have a single song by Adam even though you can find them online for free everywhere.

WTF? Maybe we should ask some about Tammy Wynette and how many have seen her…

I can see them buying a vowel on wheel of fortune, but here in the Gayborhood, I think there’s too many who should focus on “buying a Clue” instead.

Geez, Adam was even on Letterman the other night and no, they didn’t have to bleep or blur him either.
