Homophobic musician Buju Banton arrested

December 14th, 2009

USA Today reported earlier that Buju Banton was arrested on a drug charge and is currently being held in a Miami federal prison. The L.A. Times mentioned the following:

He’s been in custody since Thursday, arrested on a charge of conspiracy to possess, with intent to distribute, more than 5 kilograms of cocaine, a DEA spokesman said.

Banton, who just earned a Grammy nomination, is expected to appear in court today.

The singer is no stranger to controversy. He’s infamous for his severe homophobic lyrics in his music. Mostly in his song “Boom Boom Bye Bye” where he sings of torturing and killing gay men. The local LGBT community protested Banton’s concert this past October at the Palm Beach Club in Deep Ellum. Efforts to have Banton’s show canceled were unsuccessful.

  3. Empress Says:

is it because he’s “homophobic” that he got caught in this trap!?

  4. gw Says:

I believe that homosexuals are taking this too far. I believe that the Bantan is totally innocent.

  5. Johnny Mack Says:

Buju go bye bye to the federal prison mon

He’s not known for being homophobic. He’s a musician. To people that don’t listen to his music maybe but not to others that know him for tons of his other uplifting songs. That was one song he did as a teenager as an outcry because a young boy was raped and murdered by a man in his area. Get to know the history behind a story before you label someone “homophobic” and judge. I’m also disappointed in the gay commununity for the protesting and pepper spraying of his concerts. They are doing the exact same thing that they are trying to fight, prejudice. Theyre trying to beat someone down for not feeling the same way as they do, that’s what homophobes do, they’re behaving as homophobes. Eye for an eye leaves everyone blind.

Everyone is not going to accept you!!! Get over yourselves and move on.
I think this whole drug arrest is a conspiracy because he refuses to bow down and kiss butts. I’m a buju fan, I know his music and will always love him!!!!!!

Innocent of trying to distribute 5 kilos of coke? Innocent of beating a gay man blind? Innocent of performing a song that calls for the murder of people like me? Please, do tell, I’m all ears.

  8. SamK Says:

They say that it is a conspiracy against Buju Banton by the gays. Buju was set up.

The gay people got that 20 kilos of cocaine and had Buju Banton taste it in the presence of an undercover agent. Most likely the undercover agent is also gay.

    Karma, Karma, Karma!!!!

  10. David Taffet Says:

And while we’re coming up with conspiracy theories … the drugs were ordered planted by the governor of Florida who’s been accused of being a closeted gay. But just how did that Grammy nomination slip in … since the music industry is run by David Geffen and the gay music mafia … ?

  11. ByeByeBoom Says:

The F* *S ( not FEDS) finally got him. He needed to be more careful especially being so resolute in not bowing to their pressure. Another point: What we have in Jamaica and among Jamaicans is not Homophobia. A Phobia is a fear or an aversion. I do believe BUJU nor Jamaicans fear F**S We hate their lifestyle.

  12. gw Says:

Brian yu a chatt Krapp. Mi live a Jamaica and Bantan songs Nuh kill nobady. Homosexuals still live a Jamaica. Lef the DJ alone.

  13. gw Says:

I am in total agreement with”ByeByeBoom”. I wish we could sit and talk this over a couple of beers. You have said the right thing. We do not hate them It is just their life style.
