The "other superdelegate mentioned, Sue Lovell, was one of the first activists my late partner, Bill White, and I encountered after moving to Houston from Dallas in 1988. Sue introduced us to our neighbor at the time, Congressman Mickey Leland who unfortunately was killed in a plane crash in Africa shortly after that. At about the same time we met Gene Harrington, a law professor and one of the most articulate gay activists I have ever met, certainly in Texes. Gene got us involved in the eledction of Leland's successor, Craig Washington. And interestingly, his successor, Shiela Jackson Lee was our neighbor when she was elected. Sue, like myself and also Houston City Congroller Annise Parker , was a past president of the Houston Gay and Lesbian Polciial Caucus. Sue has always been one of the most involved gay activists in Houston and like her I share her entusiasm for Hillery Clinton. And like her, as a good Democrat, I shall support the nomiinee of our party.

I never suggested that Mr. Wright supports Sheriff Valdez, contrary to his assertion. I did suggest that the Dallas gay community should learn from its mistakes. I suppose if Mr. Wright wants to take that personally, that's his prerogative. To do so, however, would be yet another example of how Mr. Wright sensationalizes my remarks. Fortunately, this blog retains an accurate recording of my posts and readers are able to judge for themselves which of us is engaged in personal attacks and which of us is attempting to have a civil debate about the issues.

Jon: It's kinda funny because that's exactly what I would tell someone if they were to defend you, but for some reason no one has ever tried.
Neither myself nor Dallas Voice supports Lupe Valdez, but it's pretty clear that The Morning News supports Lowell Cannaday.
I wasn't defending anyone. I was merely trying to warn people about The DMN's extreme bias (as if that's really necessary anymore). But for you to suggest that I support Valdez because she's gay is like me saying The Morning News opposes her because she's gay, Hispanic and a woman. You and I both know it would be completely unfair for me to suggest that The DMN is racist, homophobic, sexist and in bed with the Concerned (White) Citizens Council, which is why I would never do any such thing. Ever.
