In last Friday’s issue, Rich Lopez praised the Scissor Sisters new CD, so we were excited to hear this morning that the Jake Shears-led retro band was going on tour, with tickets on sale this Friday.
Then we saw the schedule. No Dallas date. Nothing even in Texas. The nearest place is Denver or Atlanta, both in separate time zones. This sucks.
It’s not as if we thought Rich’s review would cinch the deal, but you gotta lotta love for this queerband and hoped they’d show some back. And they are going to Wisconsin??!!! Oh, well. It’s a tough summer concert tour season, as evidenced by the cancellation of 10 Lilith Fair dates. Bring us da noise, guys! Bring us da funk! (AND bring us whoever’s ass is on that album cover.)
they are avoiding the south entirely.
That ass is reason enough to buy the CD!
The CD is totally hot and I hope the DJ’s in the area start using it.. Not shocked that they’re not interested in coming here though. Jake Shears is a very talented man and shouldn’t have to deal with the hateful and negative conservatives here.
Thats a Mapplethorpe photo so god knows what condition that butt is in now.
The locations, venues and dates a tour producer chooses is determined by profitability and logistics. The venues on this particular tour are relatively small and apparently their expectation for ticket sales are not high. News of recent cancelations and rescheduled dates of their current tour has been reported and may have influenced the upcoming schedule.
Tours often have second schedules, second legs, depending again on profitability and logistics. Second legs are the same production or sometimes bigger productions than the first such as Lady Gaga’s second tour. It’s possible that Miami, Dallas and Houston dates may be announced later but it depends on the producer and his business decisions.
If the band selected their locations solely by their interest I’m certain they would avoid being near persons with mindsets like commenter Rick Wagner.
Their first concert in Dallas was wonderful.
