There’s no way in hell i’d be caught dead at an event where the Bushes are “celebrating those who serve to protect our freedom.” Ridiculous. I remember watching her husband setting us back on Television announcing how marriage was between a man and a woman, blah blah blah.

I shake my head at this event. Stupid.

If we as gay people practice hate, how will we ever create or influence change and acceptance? We cannot banish or give up on the people who are yet to be our advocates. We have to keep coming back to the table to dialogue and find common ground and live into who we are as gay Americans.

I am not going to count out or give up on any conservative. I don’t share one thing with the Bush family BUT I am hopeful that one day we can all work together for the rights of all people.

Laura was amazing last night. So nice and welcoming and took plenty of pictures with many people. It looked like she very much enjoyed the concert.

She and her husband have worked hard with the GOP to set gay right back.

The Bushes are smart to always surround themselves with veterans and the military. It prevents criticism by making people look somehow unpatriotic if they question the Bushes’ actions. Remember when George W. specifically ran against gay people in his 2004 re-election campaign? Laura remained silent – and still does. Maybe she will take the microphone at the Meyerson and publicy apologize to the LBGT community. Or maybe she will just privately pal around with her closet-case designers and decorators.
