I has so honored to have been a speaker during the 2011 GLBT Awareness Week. I find it ironic that I left Texas A&M rethinking and reorganizing my mind on the vicissitudes of civility. I had read about the Aggie Code and see that it would be helpful in the Equality Movement as well. Society is changing and diversity is becoming more than an option; it is simply a reality. We all have changes in our lives that create fear but to handle them with civility makes all the difference.
All of society is redefining family and roles. We need the leaders to pave a wide road, lift the danger, light the rest stops. It is the least they must do to be real leaders. Lots of people are scared for lots of reasons and true leaders carry the first aid kit, diminish the anger, create the possibility for everyone to be both courageous and thoughtful.
PS beautiful article, btw.
