Leather Knights of Dallas to present Camelot XIV at Dallas Eagle

The Leather Knights of Dallas will present Camelot XIV, “A Knight of a Thousand Dreams,” on Saturday, Oct. 20, at the Dallas Eagle, 2515 Inwood Road, No. 107. Proceeds will benefit AIDS Interfaith Network.

Dallas Eagle and Ben E. Keith Distributors are co-sponsoring the event.

Camelot XIV begins at 6 p.m. at the Eagle with registration and a welcoming party that continues through 10 p.m., and the “Gaymes, Potion Parties and Lord’s Feast will be held from 6 p.m. to midnight.

The Dragon Lady of the Realm Contest and Show begins on the Dallas Eagle stage at 8 p.m., with area clubs and run participants competing for the Dragon Lady title.

The contestant who gets the most donations during the show will win the title, and Dragon Lady XIII, Miss Ella Gibility, will end her reign.

All donations raised during the show go directly to AIDS Interfaith, and awards and trophies will be presented immediately following the show.

Legacy of Success Foundation to hold giant rummage sale for Resource Center

Legacy of Success Foundation will hold a giant rummage sale, called “One Man’s Trash is Another Man’s Dinner,” on Saturday, Oct. 20, to benefit the Resource Center of Dallas’ food pantry and hot meals program.

The idea for the sale was developed by Chastity Kirven, community outreach coordinator for Legacy of Success Foundation, to help offset funding cuts the Resource Center faces since federal funds were reallocated in the Ryan White Treatment Modernization Act of 2006.

The sale will take place in the parking lot of Cathedral of Hope, 5910 Cedar Springs Road, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Legacy of Success is asking for donations of clothing, jewelry, handbags, accessories, toys for kids, books, appliances and money. Donated items can be dropped off at the Resource Center of Dallas, 2701 Reagan St. Donations are tax deductible.

Women of Distinction to feature WNBA star at “‘Sexy, Black’ event

Women of Distinction and WNBA star Sheryl Swoopes will present “Sexy and Black All Over” on Nov. 23, from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m. at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, 14315 Midway Road in Addison.

Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door, with reserve seating available. RSVP online at www.rsvpvip.com/SexyandBlack.

A “singles meet singles” event will be held from 10 p.m. to 11 p.m. in a private suite. There will also be live auctions during the event. Parking is free and drink specials will be available. Black attire is required.
