Holmes to conclude CoH’s Pride Month series
The Cathedral of Hope will celebrate national lesbian and gay Pride day Sunday, June 28 with special guest spaker the Rev. Anne Holmes at its 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. services. She will preach on the topic " … tear down the walls!" to conclude the Cathedral’s month-long Pride month series, "A Generation of Pride."
Holmes was ordained by the United Church of Christ in 1977, making her the first open lesbian to be ordained by a mainline denomination. She is a graduate of Vanderbilt Divinity School and a trained clinical pastoral education chaplain. She has worked in psychiatric, Veterans Affairs, general medical and trauma hospitals.
Holmes is on the board for the Potomac Association of the UCC and the Central Atlantic Conference of the UCC. She and her partner Linda have a 28-year-old daughter. They live in Vienna, Va.
Worship services are free and open to all. The Cathedral of Hope is located at 5910 Cedar Springs Road.
Fort Worth PFLAG plans ‘Family Picnic’ meeting
The Fort Worth Chapter of PFLAG will have a "Family Picnic" for its Thursday, July 2 meeting. There is no charge to attend the meeting, which starts at 7 p.m. at First Jefferson Unitarian Universalist Church, 1959 Sandy Lane in Fort Worth.
