What kind of tarot did these "tarot experts" practice? Tarot cards are not only used by psychics. In fact, tarot cards were originally intended for playing trick taking games which are still played in some parts of the world. Because tarot cards are also used for card games and not only for predicting the future, I think the article should have made explicit the type of tarot which these "tarot experts" practiced.

Dear Skepitgamer,

You are unfortunately mis-informed regarding the history and roots of Tarot. Tarot was designed by Aleister Crowley, takes its history from Hermetic Qabalah and is purported to be based upon knowledge handed down to initiates belonging to the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn. Specifically, the teachings used by the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn were extrapolated from the Jewish Gematria which holds meaning in the Temple of Solomon the King. If you would like more accurate information on the history of Tarot, I recommend reading the following article:

Warm Regards,
Terri

Terri, are you joking? Crowley was born in 1875. Tarot cards date from the 15th century. I've done research on tarot cards. It is now well documented that the cards were really made for playing card game. See Michael Dummett's Game of Tarot. I think the media should report that they were intended for card games instead of leaving people with the myth that they were made for predicting the future.

For the REAL history of tarot.

I think it's great that these psychics are contributing to the fight against AIDS but I also think the media should mention there is no scientific evidence of anyone at all having any psychic abilities. This is a very biased article in many ways.

Dear Skeptic:
Read The Afterlife Experiments: Breakthrough Scientific Evidence of Life After Death by Gary E. Schwartz, William Simon, and Deepak Chopra if you want scientific proof. Also, Tarot cards were initially created as a card game for the very wealthy. Over time, they were used for divination, as were the more popular cards that are now used for gambling.

Have a good day,
