The Dallas Morning News’ “Problem Solver,” Katie Fairbanks, has apparently met her match. On the front page of today’s paper, you can read about how Fairbanks was able to finally get a murder suspect arrested nearly two years after the crime. But just as we were beginning to think Fairbanks could solve all our problems, we learned on Page B3 that she seems to be powerless over the moral plague that is “Truck Nutz.” Then again, maybe this is why we have alternative media like the Voice, to grab ahold of issues that are a little too big or hairy for mainstream outlets to handle. If the Dallas Police Department is refusing to crack down on “Truck Nutz,” I’m proposing that we citizens grow a pair. That’s right, you don’t need to be an investigative journalist to figure this one out: Next time you see someone driving around with “Truck Nutz,” follow them until they park and wait until they go inside, then get out and castrate their vehicle. Problem solved! Isn’t it amazing what you can accomplish with a simple hacksaw?
