Last week came word that the co-founder and former artistic director of the Dallas Opera, Nicola Rescigno, had died at the age of 92.

In honor of the gay conductor — who held the baton there from the first opera more than 50 years ago until his departure in 1990 — the company is dedicating its final season at Fair Park to Rescigno. (Photo courtesy Dallas Opera.)
