Poll: Tea Party backers are 23% less likely to support gay marriage than the general public

Tea Party supporters may try to fashion themselves as Libertarians on social issues, but clearly this is not the case when it comes to same-sex marriage. A New York Times/CBS poll found that Tea Party supporters are 23 percent LESS likely to support same-sex marriage than the general public, and 10 percent MORE likely to oppose all forms of relationship recognition, including civil unions.
