Pride Houston unveils 2012 logo, theme, announces grand marshal nominations

With all the drama incumbent upon such an occasion Pride Houston revealed the 2012 LGBT Pride Celebration logo and theme last night at F Bar. The logo, designed by Art Institute of Houston student Leslie Vasquez, features a rainbow ribbon of colors weaving in and out of this years theme: “Live Out Proud.” To amp up the drama both logo and theme were revealed using an animated sequence of the logo’s swirling colors slowly laying out their lines (watch it after the jump).

Additionally the 2012 grand marshal nominees were announced. Vying for ally grand marshal are LGBT youth advocates and educators Thomas and Cynitha Chappell and City Council member Ellen Cohen. For male grand marshal the choices are former Pride Houston board member Nick Brines and entertainer and fundraiser Christopher Prado. In the female grand marshal category fundraiser Robin Brown faces radio personality and recent city council candidate Jennifer Poole.

Residents of the greater Houston and Galveston area may vote for their choices on the Pride Houston website, PrideHouston.org.
