Gay ruggers host Dallas Invitational Pride Cup this weekend
Fraternity-like messing. Male-bonding scrums. And thicker-than-power-lifter legs…
How many reasons do you need to get yer jock-sniffing butts out to a pitch? (“Pitch” means “playing field” in rugby speak).
This weekend, Big D becomes gay rugby central. On Saturday, local gay team Dallas Diablos host three “sister” teams in the Dallas Invitational Pride Cup. The Pride Cup is the Diablos’ first tournament that will lure teams from other states.
New York’s Gotham Knights, the North Carolina Kodiaks and the Atlanta Bucks will be making their way to Big D. There’s a welcome party on Friday at The Round-Up Saloon. Matches begin Saturday morning. And the “third half” (rugby speak for “rowdy party”) takes place, post-match on Saturday at Woody’s Sports and Video Bar.
Next month, the Diablos are headed to Seattle to play in the Magnitude 15 Tournament.
