Stonewall Democrats of Dallas will host “Judicial Happy Hours” on the fourth Thursday of the month at J.R.’s Bar and Grill from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The events, which are free and open to the public, are being held for residents to meet judicial candidates.

Michael Moon, president of the gay political group, said the events hopefully will encourage more interest in local races.

“November’s election will have for the first time in decades a full slate of Democrats running against Republican incumbents,” Moon said. “The majority of the voting ballot will be in judicial races.

Confirmed for the first happy hour on July 22 are judicial candidates Carlos Cortez, Gena Slaughter, Emily Tobolowsky, King Fifer, Peggy Hoffman, Roberto Canas, Elizabeth Frizell, Jeff Rosenfield, Lynn Cherry and Dennise Garcia.

Moon said the candidates voted against last November’s ballot measure on gay marriage.
