VOTEStonewall Democrats began gathering at the Round-Up Saloon at 7 p.m. to watch election returns on the big screen, but, with the rainy weather, didn’t turn out in big numbers.

Democrats did well in Dallas County. Wendy Davis received 55 percent of the vote for governor in the county. Leticia Van de Putte did almost as well. In the attorney general and comptroller races, the Democrats received 54 percent. Senate candidate David Alameel was the weakest of the Democratic candidates in Dallas County with just above 50 percent of the vote.

In U.S. House races, incumbents all easily won reelection in Dallas County. Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson received one of her highest totals in a contested race with almost 90 percent.
