Dallas skyline voted world’s best by USAToday

A view of Dallas’ skyline by Alex Remington.

USAToday polled its readers: What city has the best skyline.

It shouldn’t come as a surprise to North Texans: Dallas won hands-down. We beat out D.C., Seattle, Chicago and even Hong Kong.

It makes sense. Dallas has little by way of natural beauty, so the skyscrapers are our de facto mountains.

You can see the other finishers here.

Correction: Address for Alex Remington show

In the print edition today, we incorrectly identified the address for Alex Remington’s show, Carapaces of the Divas. The correct address is 2504 Cedar Springs Road, near Fairmount, not¬†at Remington’s studio down the road. The event takes place tonight from 6 to 9 p.m., so make sure you go to the right address! We regret the error.

Alex Remington offers a sneak peek of tonight's Lambda Legal benefit show

Yesterday, I talked with local gay photographer Alex Remington about his show tonight that benefits Lambda Legal. He explained to me why he felt he needed to help the LGBT civil rights organization and gave me some insight into what it is about art that clicks for him. But he also sent me some images of his works that will be on display tonight. Proceeds from sales will go to Lambda Legal, but mostly, he would like people to come out and not only see his art, but learn more about the group. He’s even hoping the free wine will entice a few extra people.

After the jump, read what Remington has to say and see more of his work. To attend tonight’s show, RSVP to alex@alexremington.com. The cocktail reception begins at 5 p.m. at Fashion Industry Gallery (F.I.G.), 1807 Ross Ave.
