Glenn Beck And Sarah Palin Hold 9/11 Event In Alaska

Palin beck
Fresh off their tag team rally in DC a couple of weeks ago, Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin reunited in Anchorage on the ninth aniversary of 9/11. Thousands of people (over) paid somewhere between .75 and 5 to hear the two talk for about 2 hours.

The New York Times reports on the details of the event:

They shared somber remembrances of the terrorist attacks nine years ago, reiterated the “Faith, Hope and Charity” message from the last time they appeared together (at Mr. Beck’s massive “Restoring Honor” gathering in Washington on Aug. 28). They bashed the media.

“Let me tell you, folks, it’s a brutal, leftist-dominated lamestream media world out there,” Mrs. Palin screamed to a cheering crowd of about 4,000 at a sprawling downtown convention center here.

Beck claimed that the country has become complacent in its safety since the attacks (“I fear that we are forgetting what it takes," he said) while Palin pointed the finger at President Obama:

“It starts from the top,” she said. “Those who kind of set the tone in our country that would lead us towards a complacency that is very, very, very dangerous. I fear that is why we are seeing the patterns we’re seeing right now, especially over the last 20 months.”

As for if either will run for president, Beck: "They joked about a potential partnership in 2012. 'We would like to announce that in 2012…' Mr. Beck said, pausing, pausing, '…that we will both be voting.'”

Earlier in the day, Palin spoke at a 9/11 event organized by the Conservative Patriots Group in Wasilla in which she asked the crowd "What would we do without Fox News? I don't know."

I think I may have a pretty good idea.

Watch a clip of her Wasilla speech AFTER THE JUMP.

Rachel Maddow’s One-Time Radio Hero Was … Glenn Beck

When I got hired by Air America they asked who I like in radio and I said I like Ira Glass, This American Life, and I really like this guy Glenn Beck. And I shit you not, the guy who was sort of leading the interview, he didn’t last long at the company, said, 'We’re going to be a liberal channel.' I’m like, 'Yeah, I’m pretty confident in my politics.

—Rachel Maddow, sharing her former radio host idolizing, a relationship which in the years since has turned into this:

Gibbs defends the President as ‘mainstream Christian’ after Glenn Beck accusations

Haven’t we been down this incredible path before? Why does it matter what Glenn Beck (or any one in the right-wing noise machine) says about the President’s faith or lack thereof? This is playing right into the hands of the fundies…again.

White House spokesman Robert Gibbs says President Barack Obama is a “committed, mainstream Christian” – contrary to the claims of Fox News Channel host Glenn Beck.

Beck recently claimed that Obama practices a version of Christianity that is not recognized by most people. Beck says this “liberation theology” is all about “oppressors” and “victims.”

And here’s the direct exchange from the White House Press Office transcript of today’s briefing.

Q    Robert, for the last four days, Glenn Beck has criticized the President for believing in liberation theology, which he calls a Marxist form of Christianity.  I’ve got two questions.  One, does the President, to your knowledge, even know what liberation theology is?

MR. GIBBS:  I don’t know the answer to that.  I will say this, Bill, a crude paraphrasing of an old quote, and that is people are entitled to their own opinion, as ill-informed as it may be, but they’re not entitled to their own facts.  The President is a committed mainstream Christian.  I don’t — I have no evidence that would guide me as to what Glenn Beck would have any genuine knowledge as to what the President does or does not believe.

Q    When is he going back to church?

Q    So this Marxist form of Christianity –

MR. GIBBS:  Again, I can only imagine where Mr. Beck conjured that from.

Religious right upset at Glenn Beck for being okay with gay marriage

Actually, true to form, they were much more vulgar about it. Wonder what Beck has to say about this?

Glenn, our “Divine Destiny” as a nation does not include societal approval for people who want to use the anus for sex. The “Laws of Nature and Nature’s God” don’t endorse such behavior. And neither should you.

Funny, they used to be opposed to all sodomy, but now it’s just “us[ing] the anus for sex.” I guess BJs are back on God’s plan. Phew.

Not to mention, since when is this just a gay thing? And what about lesbians, does this mean they’re part of God’s plan?

AFA’s Bryan Fischer on Beck: he sides with ‘people who want to use the anus for sex’

Wait — you mean there are no heterosexuals that engage in that activity, Bryan? I think the man upstairs who sees all (if he is actually doing some bedroom peeping) would disagree with you.

This man is troubled beyond reason to make pathetic, mewling sex-obsessed statements like this (via Right Wing Watch):

Glenn, Glenn, Glenn: if special rights are given to people just because they want to use the alimentary canal for sexual purposes, no social conservative will be able to criticize homosexual behavior on biblical or moral grounds without running the risk of legal punishment.

…We must choose between the homosexual agenda and religious liberty, because it is impossible to have both. Every advance of the homosexual agenda comes at the expense of our first liberty, the very first right enshrined in the Bill of Rights, the right to freedom of religious expression. You have chosen the side of suppression and tyranny over the light of liberty.

…But Glenn, our “Divine Destiny” as a nation does not include societal approval for people who want to use the anus for sex. The “Laws of Nature and Nature’s God” don’t endorse such behavior. And neither should you.

Kyle at RWW probably needed to shower after posting this ignorant garbage. Fischer, btw, is one of the featured guests at the upcoming Values Voter Summit. Check out this overstuffed Wingnut Clown Car…the Duggars alone could break the axle of that vehicle. I notice that spots of color “Bishop” Harry Jackson and Ken Hutcherson are MIA; obviously Ann Coulter is not on the invite.

Additional invited and confirmed guests are below the fold.

Glenn Beck Invited a Few Friends Over to See D.C.’s Sights

THE SHOT — A shot from today's "Restoring Honor" rally in Washington D.C., where folks like Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin will rail against all of America's problems (caused by the Democrats!), while also raising money for the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, a charity that sends cash to military families when they die in the wars George W. Bush launched.
