“Bottoms up” means such different things, depending on if you’re at Texas Bear Round Up or the North Texas Beer Festival, and the latter is what I’m talking about here. For the second time, the event brings everything from porters to stouts to pilsners and lagers to thirsty North Texans on Saturday at the fancy-schmancy new Irving Convention Center. I don’t know about you, but I like beer, especially in the summer, and on a weekend.
Tickets are 30 bucks for the full complement of drinks ($40 at the door) and designated drivers can come in for $20. Tickets can be bought here. If you see me there, raise a glass and buy me a beer.







Don’t let yesterday’s rain get you down. The sun is out for today’s Mardi Gras Oak Cliff celebration with its fourth annual parade. But it starts off with a crawfish boil and street party in the Bishop Arts District. Live music, food and beer will get you revved up for the parade. From Davis and Montclair to the Bishop Arts District, the parade rolls on through featuring floats, live bands, bicycle rides and more. And kinda makes us jealous of Oak Cliff.
Sue Ellen’s has made the smart move to go with the artist-in-residence bit on Wednesdays. With a weekly performance by a local artist(s) or band, we either get to know someone new or rediscover some veterans of the scene. This month, Bella and Darla do their acoustic thing on Wednesdays with covers and originals to get you through the week. A beer will help with that also.










As a proud beer drinker, I was quite glad to see that TMC: The Mining Company announced a whole new selection of beers that is somewhat inspired. Hell, they even gave the selection
