Sen. Carl Levin Basically Calls Obama A Pussy

Sen. Carl Levin is willing to be the grinch who steals Christmas to get Don't Ask Don't Tell's repeal pushed through, insisting Obama use his "bully pulpit" to pressure the Senate into reconfiguring its holiday break schedule so Republicans can prove they're willing to ruin Christmas to filibuster repeal. But Obama won't do that, 'cause his balls are smalls.

Guest Post – Carl Siciliano

It has been a rough holiday season for the Ali Forney Center.

The day after Thanksgiving I received an e-mail from the City of New York, informing me that due to budget problems, they were slashing their support for homeless youth programs, greatly defunding street outreach efforts and drop-in centers. Our drop-in support is being cut in half.

I prefer to talk about our housing programs, and the remarkable resilience that so many of our residents show in rebuilding lives that have been shattered by homophobia and family rejection. The realities we deal with in our two drop-in centers are harder and more brutal.

In New York City, there are 3,800 youths who sleep on the streets every night. Over 1,000 of these youths admit to being LGBT. There are only about 250 shelter beds for homeless youth in NYC, so the great majority are left stranded on the streets. LGBT kids from all over the country flock to our drop-in centers for the food, showers, medical care, mental health treatment and other forms of support we provide.

Our case managers work valiantly to help find shelter for these kids, but the reality is there are so few safe options for LGBT youth that we are often forced to advise them on how to survive while sleeping in places like subway trains, parks, abandoned buildings and construction sites as they wait for one of our beds to open up. Yesterday one of our case managers described spending the afternoon trying to find shelter for a girl who had just come to us. When his efforts were exhausted and he had to tell her that she would be out on the street for the night, she sat in his office and cried.

I hate what I see our kids going through. So many thousands of vulnerable kids being cast out of their homes for being gay, deprived of all family support, and forced to fend for themselves without the resources to survive. I hate the way the suffer violence and degradation on the streets, the way they get gay bashed in mainstream shelters, the way so many have to survive through prostitution. I hate seeing youth be so deeply traumatized.

This phenomenon of thousands of LGBT youth being thrown out to the streets by parents who will not accept them is the most terrible face of homophobia in our time. Is there is a greater wrong being perpetrated against our community? I do not understand why protecting our terribly violated and abandoned youth is not the top priority of the LGBT movement. I do not understand why our advocacy organizations are not fighting to make certain that our tax dollars are allocated to supporting these abandoned kids. It is a nightmare that there are so few resources to protect these kids.

With these budget cuts, our ability to provide our drop-in centers is jeopardized, but I am not willing to reduce what little support these poor kids have. The drop-in centers are the safety net for the kids out on the street and I cannot imagine closing our doors. We desperately need an outpouring of support from the community to keep our drop-in centers open. Please be as generous as you can in this time of trial and, please, see if you can persuade friends to help.

Carl Paladino’s Gay Pride Parade Fantasies, Brought To Cinematic Life

In the Taiwanese CGI version of Carl Paladino's life, The Gays aren't just some dysfunctional monsters gyrating at gay pride parades. They show up at his front door like a couple of Mormon missionaries.

Weird, Carl: Why didn’t ‘I don’t have one iota of respect for [civil unions]‘ make your 6-point ‘apology’?

Screen Shot 2010-10-12 At 6.18.42 PmHere’s Carl Paladino in September, speaking to the very same Hasidic group where he ultimately delivered his now-infamous comments about gays’ “brainwashing” children:

(click to play audio clip)

*AUDIO SOURCE: A September appearance alongside Yehuda Levin, wherein Levin said same-sex marriage ’caused the last step before the floods of Noah that actually destroyed the worlds’ and that the judicial and legislative system has “spiritually sodomized” voices of dissent, while Paladino sat there and said nothing [G-A-Y]

But now Carl Paladino of course knows that he’s stepped in it big time. So where there was once a need to say whatever he thought would appease the uber-homo-hostile Yehuda Levin, there is now the realization that unfettered anti-gayness will not fly in New York. And whereas there was once “not one iota of respect” for even civil unions, there is now the suggestion that the anti-civil union, pro-”let the people vote” Republican candidate has the exact same position as the pro-civil union, anti-vote-on-marriage President:

1) I am a live and let live person.

2) I am 100% against discrimination of any group. I oppose discrimination of any kind in housing, credit, insurance benefits or visitation.

3) I am 100% against hate crimes in any form.

4) I am in support of civil agreements and equal rights for all citizens.

5) My position on marriage is based on my personal views. I have the same position on this issue as President Barrack (sic) Obama. I have previously stated I would support a referendum by New York voters. I have proposed Initiative and Referendum so New Yorkers can decide important issues like this.

6) The portrayal of me as anti-gay is inconsistent with my lifelong beliefs and actions and my prior history as an father, employer and friend to many in the gay and lesbian community.

The full “apology”: Carl Paladino…apologizes? [NYDN]

Mmm hmm, Carl. And we’re enjoying that oceanfront midtown Manhattan apartment you sold us too!

You Know It’s Bad For Carl Paladino When Other Extreme Right-Wingers Are Ditching Him

Christine O'Donnell. Carl Paladino. Is there anything extremist Republican political candidates can't do to offend our senses? Even Paladino's consultant Roger Stone is disgusted, as is staunch GOP defender Karol Markowicz, who says she "wanted to like Carl Paladino," and even though she was "disgusted by his life choices" still stood by him. Then came the (latest round of) comments about gays. "To be clear, my issue is not the statement he denies making, the one about gay people being dysfunctional. My problem is everything else he admits to saying." And then Mark McKinnon, former George W. Bush and John McCain adviser, tells Rachel Maddow that Paladino "is such a throwback [to the days of Jesse Helms] he makes Archie Bunker look like Howard Dean."

Count Bryan ‘gay sex is a form of domestic terrorism’ Fischer in the Carl Paladino fan club

NY gubernatorial candidate Carl Paladino has found himself a public supporter. This new voice of solidarity comes in the form of the American Family Association’s Bryan Fischer, a man who has claimed that “homosexuals in the military gave us…six million dead Jews,” who’s said “homosexuals should be disqualified from public office,” who has called on Christian conservatives to breed gays and progressives out of existence, has called gay sex a “form of domestic terrorism,” who’s said only gays were savage enough for Hitler, has compared gays to heroin abusers, has directly compared laws against gay soldiers to those that apply to bank robbers, who once invoked a Biblical story about stabbing “sexually immoral” people with spears, saying we need this kind of action in modern day, and who has spoken out against gays serving as public school teachers.

Take it (way, way) away, Bryan:

Everything – every single thing – that Paladino said about the homosexual lifestyle yesterday was dead on the money. What he said is so true and so evident and so obvious that the real 6A00D8341C503453Ef01310F3588E8970Ccontroversy here is that there is any controversy at all.

The fact that homosexual activists will now bare their fangs, veritably dripping saliva as they go for Paladino’s carotid artery, and will do so with the full-throated blessing of the out-of-the-mainstream media, only illustrates the enormously dangerous clout these purveyors of perversity have been given in our culture.

Paladino properly shamed Cuomo for marching in New York’s gay pride parade with his two daughters, saying, “that’s not the kind of example we should be showing our children.”

Referring to the unconscionable way impressionable young children are being indoctrinated (rather than educated) in our public schools, he said, “I don’t want them to be brainwashed into thinking that homosexuality is an equally valid and successful option – it isn’t.”

He affirmed unapologetically that “marriage is between a man and a woman. Period,” and vowed to veto any same-sex marriage bill that reaches his desk on the grounds that it would be “immoral legislation.” He spoke the simple truth when he said that our children “would be much better off and much more successful getting married and raising a family.” Good for him.

In the written remarks he prepared for delivery to Hasidic Jewish leaders, he added that there is “nothing to be proud of in being a dysfunctional homosexual.”

There frankly is no other kind of homosexual than the dysfunctional kind. Homosexuals are dysfunctional by the very nature of the aberrant sexual conduct in which they engage. As the Roman Catholic Church correctly says, homosexual behavior is “intrinsically disordered.”

Bryan Fischer: Carl Paladino gets right up in the grill of homosexual activists [AFA]

Oh, you’re so silly, Mr. Fischer. We gay activists aren’t baring our fangs. Because why would we, when baring both your and Mr. Paladino’s intense hostility for a vibrant population sect is far more advantageous to our equality fight?

American Family Association Endorses Homophobic Remarks Of Carl Paladino

“Carl Paladino, running for governor of the state of New York against Andrew Cuomo, trod yesterday where angels fear to tread: he told the truth about homosexuality, right out in front of God, the public, and vicious, mean-spirited homosexuals. Paladino brought it yesterday, throwing a live grenade into what had already been a contentious campaign, the kind that makes politics the spectator sport it is in the Empire State.

“Everything – every single thing – that Paladino said about the homosexual lifestyle yesterday was dead on the money. What he said is so true and so evident and so obvious that the real controversy here is that there is any controversy at all. The fact that homosexual activists will now bare their fangs, veritably dripping saliva as they go for Paladino’s carotid artery, and will do so with the full-throated blessing of the out-of-the-mainstream media, only illustrates the enormously dangerous clout these purveyors of perversity have been given in our culture.” – American Family Association radio host Bryan Fischer, who makes no mention of Carl Paladino’s admitted adultery or ten year-old love child with a former employee.
