Mixner on yesterday's DADT fail: "Why don't we add it as an amendment to the President's compromise keeping the Bush Tax Cuts and let us filibuster until it is added and passed! Let the Republicans explain to the CEO's why their hatred of the LGBT community is holding up their tax breaks. Let's give them hell. Let's fight back and not roll over one more time and take another blow to our dignity and honor."
Equality Florida report sees shift in favor of equality: “A great deal of work remains, but Floridians can be proud of the progress in our state over the past decade,” said Nadine Smith, executive director for Equality Florida. “This report demonstrates that while political winds may shift during an election cycle, the long-term trend in Florida is strongly in favor of fairness and equality for everyone, including lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people.”
Prince Charles and Camilla's car attacked by student protesters: "Camilla was prodded in the ribs with a stick through the open window of their Rolls-Royce as she and Charles were driven to the Royal Variety Performance at the London Palladium. One of the vintage car's windows was left open by mistake before the vehicle was surrounded by a snarling mob of rioting students and activists."
LOGO gives the green light: "In addition to 'Be Good Johnny Weir,' the network has greenlit 'Pretty Hurts,' from Go Go Luckey Productions, a comedic reality series that follows the staff and clients of a high-end Beverly Hills medical office that specializes in 'liquid face lifts.' The other series is 'Setup Squad,' a workplace docu-soap from Leftfield Pictures ('Pawn Stars') focused on a Manhattan-based matchmaking service that pairs up professional "wing people" with those that are unlucky in love."
U.S. poised to indict Julian Assange on spying charges? "Though he appears to have committed no crime in the States, the administration is under enormous pressure to find some way of punishing the Australian for unleashing a stream of diplomatic embarrassments on to the internet."
Scientists engineer mouse from two fathers: "This was done by engineering females with eggs containing only chromosomes from a father. Mating added genes from a second father."
Special Counsel for Focus on the Family James Bopp Jr. files suit in Iowa to halt nomination process for Supreme Court judges: "Rob Hogg, a Democrat from Cedar Rapids who is a lawyer and vice chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee decried Republican judicial activism. 'This lawsuit clearly is part of a right wing ideological campaign through an out-of-state lawyer to screw up our courts,' Hogg told the Des Moines Register."
Though University of Michigan student Chris Armstrong withdrew his petition for a protective order against Andrew Shirvell, he's not bowing out of the legal fight against his adult bully just yet. His attorney filed a complaint with the Michigan Attorney Grievance Commission against the Michigan assistant attorney general. If the commission accepts the complaint and rules in Armstrong's favor, it has the power to disbar Shirvell.
NPR on its recent canning of Juan Williams: “He had several times in the past violated our news code of ethics with things that he had said on other people’s air.”
For whatever reason, Glee's Chris Colfer doesn't come across as narcissistic with this statement: "If somebody had to be a role model, I think I'm a good candidate, in the sense that I really don't do anything obviously stupid or wrong, and I'm pretty smart with my judgments."
The NY Times reports on why the creators of South Park plagiarized jokes on this week's episode: "When Mr. Parker and Mr. Stone could not find a movie theater showing 'Inception,' and were unable to get a DVD of the film (or find a watchable version on BitTorrent), they turned to other parodies of the film on the Web, and found the CollegeHumor video." Still sounds fishy to me.
A whole lotta green eggs and ham: The 19-page manuscript of a previously unpublished Dr. Seuss manuscript is sold at auction for a cool ,000.

The video game Fable III is about to become very gay-friendly: "We don't require you to be of a certain type to get married," said Peter Molyneux, creative director at Microsoft Game Studios Europe. "You can be gay. You can be bisexual. You can get married as many times as you like. It's up to you. My fascination is with what that means to people. It means they can be who they are rather than who I require them to be."
Delawareans are coming out in force to help elect Chris Coons to the U.S. Senate. I’ve been working here in Lewes to turn out our members throughout Delaware, and the dedication of the volunteers is amazing. With so much on the line and everyone watching, it’s been great to work with such a dedicated group of volunteers here in eastern Delaware.
The race is definitely a top target and it’s been exciting to talk to our members about why they need to vote. There’s talk of an enthusiasm gap, but that’s definitely not the case here; everyone that I have talked to is excited to go cast a vote for pro-equality candidates like Chris Coons.
The time here on the ground has blown by, and I’m sure that the time from now until Election Day will go even faster. Here’s to getting out the vote. Go Coons!

Actor/auto-tune singer Chris Salvatore already recorded one of those uber trendy It Gets Better videos. Now he's recorded an original track for the kids, which is a sing-songy advertisement for what the future holds: finding someone to love and marry. (That's not just a dream for young people!) Lyrics: "It gets better, believe me / It gets better, you'll see. / Look up to the sky, when all else fails / There's gotta be something out there / With all the beauty around / Like a simple flower / I promise you this / Love exists / It'll get better, believe me / It'll get better, you will see." So that's pretty sweet.
