Kindred Spirits presents: The Judy Garland Christmas Show

Judy Garland Christmas ShowThere’s kitsch. There’s camp. Then there’s the Judy Garland Christmas Show, perhaps the single most absurdly divine thing to ever be produced by the 1960′s television industry. Kindred Spirits presents its 4th Annual Judy Garland Christmas Show & Sing-Along December 4th at Meteor (2306 Genesee St) at 5 pm.

In 1963 Garland found herself in trouble with the IRS for forgetting to pay taxes for a couple of years. Desperate for cash, she agreed to star in a weekly variety show for CBS, then proceeded to record 26 of the most gin-soaked hours in television history. Garland was remarkably cogent for the Christmas episode however, perhaps because her children were all on set as guest stars. Lorna Luft, Joey Luft and (almost unrecognizable with long hair) Liza Minnelli join fellow guests Jack Jones, Tracy Everitt, Mel Tormé and the true stars of the show, the chorus line of dancing Santas, for an hour of surreal delight.

With Nancy Ford emceeing, the Judy Garland Christmas Show & Sing-Along has become a Houston holiday tradition. In addition to the show and complimentary eats there’s also a raffle for a flat screen television. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door and can be purchased at kindredspiritshouston.org. Proceeds benefit AssistHers, the Lesbian Health Initiative Houston, and Expert Nutrition.

After the break watch the opening number from the Judy Garland Christmas Show.

The Pretty Things Peepshow tonight at The Kessler

Sword swallowing, fire eating and burlesque dancing, oh my

The Pretty Things Peepshow recalls old-timey circuses or better yet, the HBO show Carnivale, which really left viewers hanging. This vintage vaudeville sideshow packs in a whallop of acts into two and a half hours. For a hump day, acts that include electric chairs, animal traps and whip cracking might even outdo the Dallas Eagle. We’re kinda looking forward to the special burlesque dancing which includes a fan dance and spinning fire tassels. For real! You won’t see that on the dance floor at S4.

The show even features the “Midget of Mischief” Lil Miss Firefly who stands just over two feet and performs as the night’s glass walker and straight jacket escape artists. Yeah, there’s too much to miss to not make this show tonight.

DEETS: The Kessler, 1230 W. Davis St. 9 p.m. $15. TheKessler.org.

He enjoys an active social life here in his new hometown; and you may occasionally spot him at the Drama Room, and occasionally at the Tin Room. Wherever he goes you can be sure he won’t blend in with the crowd!

Gay Porn Stars Won’t Stop Dancing Until YouTube Recognizes Gender Equality In Sexy Clip Shows

Last month porn types Jamie Brendon Stroud (aka Chip Tanner, gymnast) and Nick Dent (aka Reese Rideout, stripping instructor), made their "Dancing For Gender Equality" debut, uploading a video of them dancing — if that's what you want to call it — with a picture-in-picture representation of two chicks doing the exact same thing. The point? That YouTube censors male homoerotic clips, but girls getting jiggy with it are somehow allowed. Last week, they found another girl-on-girl clip that was permitted by the YouTube cops. And performed a scene-by-scene remake.

Can’t Dancing On Ice Contestant Jeff Brazier Talk Bukkake With Gay Judge Jason Gardiner?

I want to say JG, before he rains on my parade, the boys are in the audience over there. They are experts in group insemination, I mean group interrogation, so just watch out.

—Jeff Brazier, the X Factor host (and reality TV veteran), who's competing on Britain's Dancing On Ice, in a televised remark to openly gay judge Jason Gardiner after his not-so-great routine, that had everyone thinking he's a homophobe. But his rep insists: "Jeff gets his words wrong sometimes, it was not on purpose."

Alfons Haider, The Real Life Bruno, Will Twirl With a Man On Austria’s Dancing Stars

Alfons Haider, the gay Austrian actor and television reporter widely believed to be the basis for Sacha Baron Cohen's Bruno character (that's him in the pink in the video above), will appear on his country's Dancing Stars competition … with a dude. Haider, who actually hosted the first three seasons of the show, will follow Israel's Gili Shem Tov in dancing on-air with a same-sex partner. And like Shem Tov, he's selected a breeder, Balázs Ekker, who's appeared on all five seasons, as his dance mate. "I am going to dance with a heterosexual," says the 33-year-old. "This is not about being gay. I do not want my appearance on the show to be reduced to homosexuality. This is about the show, about entertainment. I am not the gay Joan of Arc." Now quick, somebody criticize his comment about how there's no such thing as "reducing" something to its gayness!
