LISTEN: God-des and She’s “You Know My Name”

Prior to their full-length release later this year, lesbian hip-hop duo God-des and She has released this preview track. “You Know My Name” is a little all over the place. Some of the lyrics remind of Salt-n-Pepa’s early stuff, but at this point in hip-hop, and on this being the duo’s fourth album, do we need a spell out of their name?  Especially one that tells us don’t forget the hyphen please (repeat).

This far into their career, I’d just hope they’d have more to say. Perhaps we’ll see when the album drops.

She and her

A hip-hop/pop/soul duo bred in the Midwest, God-Des & She now play to venues all over the world from New York to Sweden.  Ever since they appeared on Showtime’s hit series The L Word four years ago, the pair haven’t had a moment’s rest, selling over 30,000 albums, holding down the #1 spot on MTV LOGO with their song “Love You Better,” and signing autographs for eager fans.  With their new album Three, God-Des & She are about to blow up — big. Produced by Brian Hardgroove of Public Enemy (Wu Tang Clan, Burning Spear, Aerosmith), their new album confirms their status as an underground act about to hit the mainstream.

Concert Notice: God-des and She to play Sue Ellen's Mar. 12

I just received a Facebook invite to catch the God-des and She concert at Sue Ellen’s next month. I was excited to hear the duo was heading back this way. The lesbian hip-hop/vocalist team sounded just as excited about hitting the venue according to their site. They’ve played here before but never at Sue Ellen’s.

Our FIRST time EVER playing Sue Ellen’s everyone. This bar is HOT and we LOVE our fans in Dallas. Spread the word about the show!!!

They play Mar. 12 at 10 p.m. Visit here for more information.

I’ve always thought their song, “Love You Better,” should have been an actual radio hit, but, what do I know? Here’s the video.
