Queer Music News: Neneh Cherry’s new video, Kylie’s greatest hits, Hunx’s latest single

Likely known only for her late-’80s dance-hop hit “Buffalo Stance” is somewhat back on the radar. Although she broke through with that “Stance” way back then, the bi singer has still been hard at work with her latest group CirKus but more so on the European side of the pond. And now she teams with free-jazz unit The Thing for the upcoming The Cherry Thing. The collaborative effort featuring an eclectic song list of covers is set for release on June 19.

They offered a taste with this video of their cover of MF Doom’s “Accordion.” The song trickles along so be patient, but it’s quite a listen. You can see that Cherry was filmed in complete darkness which adds a darker element to the song. From director Ted Says.

“We wanted to create an atmosphere that would sit well with the unpredictable music of The Thing and be playful yet creepy. I didn’t want to restrict Neneh too much either — she had to have a platform to do her thing undisturbed. Shooting in darkness, amongst the trees with a bunch of lasers it was then.”
