CELEBRITY BIRTHDAY

Kathy Najimy turns 55 on Monday. The actress has been making us laugh since her role as Sister Mary Patrick in Sister Act to appearances in gay-friendly fare such as Ugly Betty, Drop Dead Diva and Desperate Housewives. She appeared in the Jennifer Aniston-directed TV movie Five last year and is set to appear in BearCity 2, touted as a hirsute Sex and the City.

……………….

THIS WEEK

Venus is entering Aries, good for sports and trashy fun, not so much for emotional and financial investments. But then she aspects Uranus and Jupiter, so be open for some very fun surprises.

……………….

AQUARIUS  Jan 20-Feb 18
Your dazzling brilliance may offend some. Don’t hold back. Just be sensitive and ready to apologize if necessary, or just politic. It doesn’t have to be a big deal, but arguing will make it one.

PISCES  Feb 19-Mar 19
It’s too easy to say much and give away the store. Let people wonder how much you do know makes you look wiser. Set aside some money for an impulse purchase.

ARIES  Mar 20-Apr 19
A new you will break into the open. It could be a daring new look or a talent that refuses to be hidden If you worry about that disrupting your relationships, holding it in will be even worse.

TAURUS  Apr 20-May 20
Trust those instincts and intuitions. That voice inside has important messages. Friends will disappoint you. They’re only human, but are they really friends? Keep a shrewd eye on their motives.

GEMINI  May 21-Jun 20
Showing off your intellectual brilliance can cause more trouble than it solves. If you want to shake things up, you could be very effective, but the only way you can make peace is to stay quiet.

CANCER  Jun 21-Jul 22
Remember the soul is eternal. Attend to material realities. Success pulls you away from home and family, but is that so bad? A little separation there doesn’t need to be a complete break.

LEO  Jul 23-Aug 22
Winning arguments by intimidation costs you. Gaining allies takes effort and attentive listening. You can change your mind about strategy and details without sacrificing principles.

VIRGO  Aug 23-Sep 22
Be very careful of nervous inflammations, as they may impact the bowels. Cleanliness, relaxation and a healthy sex life are the best care. Improving the work process will irritate colleagues.

LIBRA  Sep 23-Oct 22
Efforts to start or refresh a relationship will open surprises that take you in directions you’re not ready for. Being a control queen will backfire horribly. Just roll with it and see where it goes.

SCORPIO  Oct 23-Nov 21
Nobody can be right all the time, but correct your own mistakes. Did your friends really screw up, or were your expectations unfair? What’s right is more important than who’s right.

SAGITTARIUS  Nov 22-Dec 20
You can’t hold back your rebellious streak, but channel it creatively to boost your standing at work and invigorate your partnership. Go ahead and take a chance.

CAPRICORN  Dec 21-Jan 19
Confusion is good for the soul, provoking you to examine yourself deeper. Changes should feel uncomfortable if they provoke real opportunities. Stay focused on the long haul.

CELEBRITY BIRTHDAY

David Sedaris turns 55 on Monday. The openly gay author first came to attention with his 1992 broadcast of his SantaLand Diaries on NPR. He’s written iconic bestsellers such as 1997’s Naked and 2000’s Me Talk Pretty One Day, but received major criticism for an article in The Guardian this past summer about exotic Chinese food and culture that was deemed insensitive.

……………………..

THIS WEEK

The sun conjoining Pluto in Capricorn heightens awareness of authority and bureaucratic structures that hem us in, as well as the revolutionary urge to smash them. Impulsive acts of rebellion are disastrous. Revolutions need careful planning.

……………………..

CAPRICORN  Dec 21-Jan 19
While your intuitions about money are on the mark it helps to double-check the facts. Avoid dithering and second-guessing yourself. Being rigorous is good; beating yourself up isn’t.

AQUARIUS  Jan 20-Feb 18
There is such a thing as being too nice when you can’t hide bitchy undertones. There are no secrets. Whatever you say will slip out. Talk about celebrities instead of gossiping.

PISCES  Feb 19-Mar 19
Your intuition and advice are worth more than you realize. If you listened to yourself, you’d be better off! Blurting out a secret proves to your advantage if it’s your secret and nobody else’s.

ARIES  Mar 20-Apr 19
Sudden outbursts reveal hidden depths and secret strengths. Open up to your insightful friends. Working too hard can upset the apple cart. Pace yourself to be effective with your colleagues.

TAURUS  Apr 20-May 20
Sassy, daring boldness is atypical for Taureans, but work whatever energy you have to get ahead. You reveal more of yourself than you had intended, but that should work in your favor, too.

GEMINI  May 21-Jun 20
Any simmering domestic problems are sure to boil over. To head off resentments, open up to your partner first about personal fears and anxieties and see how that feeds the other issues.

CANCER  Jun 21-Jul 22
Holidays put stress on relationships. This decade is especially tough for that, and the next few years will be worse. Talk about your shared commitment and learn from rough spots.

LEO  Jul 23-Aug 22
Being nice with people can be a challenge, but honing your teamwork skills makes it worthwhile. The real trick is to balance that with creative impulses that require your individual initiative.

VIRGO  Aug 23-Sep 22
Working at enjoyment misses the point. Working toward an accomplishment can slide into obsession. If something is supposed to be fun isn’t any more, step back and think about it.

LIBRA  Sep 23-Oct 22
When the going gets tough, the tough get creative. A spat shows serious problems unsuspected, but the solution is within reach. It’s not easy, but small sacrifices on both sides fix it.

SCORPIO  Oct 23-Nov 21
Your revolutionary ideas are on the right track, but discuss them with an expert who shares your ideals. If your partner feels neglected swallow your pride, apologize, and deal with it.

SAGITTARIUS  Nov 22-Dec 20
What would your perfect job look like? You will have the opportunity to improve your work situation. For now, nurture the ideal.

CELEBRITY BIRTHDAY

Jennifer Beals turns 48 on Monday. The actress came to fame in the iconic ’80s film Flashdance. But it wasn’t until 2004 when she resonated with the lesbian community playing Bette Porter for six seasons of The L Word. Since the show’s cancellation in 2009, she’s been seen in The Book of Eli with Denzel Washington and the canceled 2011 Fox series The Chicago Code.

……………

THIS WEEK

Just before the solstice when the sun enters Capricorn, Venus will leave Cap for Aquarius. It makes a good combination for looking forward with good imagination and your feet solidly on the ground. Start making sensible plans for next year.

…………..

SAGITTARIUS  Nov 22-Dec 20
Being helpful at holiday parties can get you into a better job. Keep a clear head and the rest should fall into place. Missed opportunities could come knocking again. Don’t rule anything out.

Your intuition and advice are worth more than you realize. If you listened to yourself, you’d be better off! Blurting out a secret proves to your advantage if it’s your secret and nobody else’s.

ARIES  Mar 20-Apr 19
Get wild and creative. Explore new ideas. Just remember you are experimenting. Keep it light and fun. Being too sure of yourself can make you look pompous and/or get you into trouble.

TAURUS  Apr 20-May 20
Make every effort to be open-minded. Your ability to assimilate and gain insight can prove very helpful at work. Opportunity will come soon and unexpectedly; be ready for anything.

GEMINI  May 21-Jun 20
Difficult issues need addressing. Be considerate when telling your partner how you feel. The middle ground between saying too much or too little can be hard to negotiate.

CANCER  Jun 21-Jul 22
High hopes for the holidays are dashed. Reconciling between high ideals and realistic expectations is part of growing up. Taking a longer view will help you keep a positive perspective.

LEO  Jul 23-Aug 22
Christmas is whose birthday? Not yours. You just want to make things fun and bright, but it’s too easy to overdo it. A quiet hug or a small, elegant gesture is often more effective than a big to-do.

VIRGO  Aug 23-Sep 22
Holidays are not about getting historical facts right, disturbing your family with revelations or proving something. Think about what matters, and when and how best to tell them — but later.

LIBRA  Sep 23-Oct 22
Shocking your partner can be a good thing, but not with a cattle prod. When creative passions go overboard let your sweetie reel you in. Just let that be a further creative challenge.

SCORPIO  Oct 23-Nov 21
Your critical eye on community affairs is not always appreciated. Getting the diplomacy right can be a challenge. Don’t be wishy-washy or obtuse. Solicit a friend to help get your point across.
