GIVEAWAY: The final Lit Ish giveaway is a pretty major one (like 7 books major)

As our Literary Issue enjoys its last days on the newsstands today, I wanted to let it go out with a bang. I’ve been giving away books all week to keep with the theme and today is the biggest freebie of all.

You’ll likely see a theme here, but I have a handful of books I intend to give to one lucky queer book fan. And by handful, I mean seven unread books by Cleis Press that will give off a whole lotta steam. You’ll see why after the jump.

So, if you would like me to add to your library, I’m going to ask for two things. Author or not, write me the first line of the book you will/may write someday. Include “Turn My Page” in the subject line to me and I will select a winner on Monday. That way you have time to think about it.

Thanks for reading the Lit Ish and to all those who partook in previous book giveaways.

GIVEAWAY: Lesbian fiction by Monica Nolan

In a recent office clean-up, these two books made their way to my desk. Still in brand new condition, I’ve decided to offer two of Monica Nolan’s books to give away which are pretty much priceless in every sense.

The covers of each are perfectly pulp fiction-esque and the titles are to die for. I have a copy of Bobby Blanchard, Lesbian Gym Teacher and Lois Lenz, Lesbian Secretary. With taglines such as She schooled them in field hockey…and desire and Her soul was pure. Her desires were sinful. Her typing was impeccable, just tell me you don’t want them both.

Email me here with “Ladies first” in the subject line and a winner will be selected tomorrow. Congrats to today’s winner of Fangs and Stilettos. And don’t miss this week’s Literary Issue of the Dallas Voice on stands and online now.

GIVEAWAY: “Gay Men Don’t Get Fat” book in honor of this week’s Literary Issue

For this week’s Literary Issue, I thought I’d expand on the theme by giving away a book a day (sans weekends) until next week’s ish hits the stands. And if you think I’m just trying to clean out my shelves, well you are just darn wrong. Absolutely. But I do have a small collection of LGBT-written books that I’m more than glad to share with you.

Kicking off the giveaways with a bang, I have a  copy of Simon Doonan’s cheeky book Gay Men Don’t Get Fat — in hardback! Released in January, Doonan takes a witty look at the fabulous quotient that befalls every gay man and teaches how to execute it with precision. Hey, we need these life lessons, even if we think we know them and Doonan qualifies after imparting his expertise on America’s Next Top Model, and as the creative director for Barneys New York. OK, just have fun with the book. From
