Dan Choi On Cindy McCain’s DADT Message (Which She Has Now Retracted)

“Mrs. McCain misses the man she married.”

UPDATE: Oh, but hang on. Mrs. McCain has apparently been knocked into line by her husband.
John Aravosis goes ballistic on AmericaBlog:

Did she lie today or lie yesterday? Either way, she’s a liar, and she should be removed from the NOH8 video because, as of right now, Cindy McCain is a hater. Not to mention, great message she just sent to gay youth. If someone pressures you, cave and support hate. I can’t believe I defended this woman over the past 24 hours to people who tweeted me, and messaged me on Facebook, and said she was a fraud. I argued that she had a done a great thing. And now we see the real Cindy McCain: Hateful two-faced homophobic fraud. Her lying homophobic face needs to be yanked from that video immediately.

Message to the Tea Party – What took you so long to get angry?

crossposted on Holy Bullies and Headless Monsters

I didn't write this. The actual author is unknown but he/she speaks gospel. In anticipation of this election and most assured coronation of the astroturfed group as kingmakers, no matter the outcome:

You didn't get mad when the Supreme Court stopped a legal recount and appointed a President.

You didn't get mad when Cheney allowed Energy company officials to dictate Energy policy and push us to invade Iraq .

You didn't get mad when a covert CIA operative got outed.

You didn't get mad when the Patriot Act got passed.

You didn't get mad when we illegally invaded a country that posed no threat to us.   You didn't get mad when we spent over 800 billion (and counting) on said illegal war.

You didn't get mad when Bush borrowed more money from foreign sources than the previous 42 Presidents combined.

You didn't get mad when over 10 billion dollars in cash just disappeared in Iraq .

You didn't get mad when you found out we were torturing people.

You didn't get mad when Bush embraced trade and outsourcing policies that shipped 6 million American jobs out of the country.

You didn't get mad when the government was illegally wiretapping Americans.

You didn't get mad when we didn't catch Bin Laden.

You didn't get mad when Bush rang up 10 trillion dollars in combined budget and current account deficits.

You didn't get mad when you saw the horrible conditions at Walter Reed.

You didn't get mad when we let a major US city, New Orleans drown.

You didn't get mad when we gave people who had more money than they could spend, the filthy rich, over a trillion dollars in taxbreaks. You didn't get mad with the worst 8 years of job creations in several decades.

You didn't get mad when over 200,000 US Citizens lost their lives because they had no health insurance.

You didn't get mad when lack of oversight and regulations from the Bush Administration caused US Citizens to lose 12 trillion dollars in investments, retirement, and home values.

No…..You finally got mad

When a black man was elected President and decided that people in America deserved the right to see a doctor if they are sick.

Yes, illegal wars, lies, corruption, torture, job losses by the millions, stealing your tax dollars to make the rich richer, and the worst economic disaster since 1929 are all okay with you, but helping fellow Americans who are sick…Oh, Hell No!!

The Gay Men’s Chorus of LA sings an ‘It Gets Better’ message

Found this video via Andy Towle who wrote “Chills. Tears.” He’s right:

We’re seeing the LGBT community come together to take care of its youngest members. Not many of us had people to tell us “It gets better.” But, it does — and the next generations need to know that. And, I think the outpouring since Dan Savage launched this project shows an understanding that we have to be the support we need.

We’re not going to let deranged homophobes like Tony Perkins allow more LGBT kids to die.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has added her voice to the "It Gets Better" campaign, recording a message of hope for LGBT teens who have been bullied.

Says Clinton: "Take heart. And have hope. And please remember that your life is valuable, and that you are not alone. Many people are standing with you and sending you their thoughts, their prayers, and their strength. Count me among them."

Iowa: NOM’s cynical plan to send message, written on pink slip

Brian-BrownBrian Brown knows that the National Organization for Marriage and Iowa For Freedom’s campaign to remove three Iowa Supreme Court justices will accomplish absolutely nothing tangible for his side’s “traditional marriage” war. But as we’ve said a million times: NOMmers like Brian don’t care about the practical results, because this campaign is really all about sending a public relations message pertaining to the anti-LGBT side’s power in American politics. Because while NOM’s most apparent campaign is against marriage equality in the literal sense, the group’s ancillary campaign is a rhetorical effort to change the way the public looks and thinks and talks about the equality fight (e.g. they don’t want anyone calling it an “equality fight”). This Iowa judges matter is firmly within that PR playbook, constituting nothing more than a vindictive effort to take away qualified people’s jobs in order to make an example out of them. The NOM/IFF anti-fairness coalition is taking advantage of marriage equality having been unanimously decided in a state that has a retention voting process, knowing that they can rally the “stop gay marriage at any cost” set to believe whatever they sell. Plus NOM and IFF (and associates) know these judges can’t and won’t (and shouldn’t) go out and campaign against this costly effort, which means that they are basically sitting ducks. NOM/IFF are trying to fire these vulnerable judges in effigy, if you will.

But don’t just take our word for it. Here’s Brian bearing out our claim:

Brian Brown, executive director of National Organization for Marriage, said pro-family groups realize that removing these judges will not resolve the same-sex marriage crisis; however it sends a very powerful message.

“If justices go outside the bounds of their oaths, if the justices go outside the bounds of the U.S. and state constitutions,” Brown said, “They’re going to be held accountable.”

[Focus on the Family]

You know, because that’s what we do here in America: We use our personal, faith-based objections to do nothing more than threaten a co-equal branch of government. That is what freedom’s all about. Right?

More than just about any other effort to come before it, anti-marriage ballot initiatives included, this Iowa effort really fleshes out how careless and self-absorbed NOM truly is. But while they might win this short term, one-sided battle, it’s undeniable that it’s this NOM/IFF coalition that will ultimately have to pay a fat karma bill to the gods of accountability.

A message for John McCain about Rupert Starr

Today, our friend, Capt. Jim Pietrangelo, was on Capitol Hill for the delivery of combat boots to the office of Senator Jim Webb. While on Capitol Hill, Jim also delivered this powerful video about Rupert Starr to the office of Senator John McCain:

We’re big fans of Jim Pietrangelo here at AMERICAblog. You remember Jim from the photo of this iconic event

Palin Instructs Tea Party Spawn Christine O’Donnell to Get Message Out Through GOP Mouthpiece FOX News

On last night's Bill O'Reilly, Sarah Palin continued to mentor her endorsee, Delaware teabagger Christine O'Donnell, instructing O'Donnell to get her message out through the correct GOP/Tea Party propaganda channels.

Said Palin:

"She’s going to have to learn very quickly to dismiss what some of her handlers want. Remember what happened to me in the VP. […] So she’s going to have to learn that, yes, very quickly. She’s going to have to dismiss that, go with her gut, get out there, speak to the American people.Speak through FOX News and let the Independents who are tuning in to you, let them know what it is that she stands for, the principles behind her positions."
